Gerry Battle:  Came to Mercyhurst College from McKeesport, PA. His parents are Gerald and Linda Battle. He played for the Lakers from 90-94 while remaining a three year starter and captain for the team. He was recruited by Coach Bob Powell under the Dr. Barry Copeland era, he played the majority of his career under Coach Bill Morse and Asst. Coaches Matt Nesser and Corey Taylor. Jerry married his wife Mary jo (Hurst alum 03) and they have two beautiful children whom are Dai'Vonna (9yrs.) and Trey (2yrs.) Jerry has been employed with Erie County -Edmund L. Thomas Center as a juvenile counselor for 12 years. He has earned his master's degree in Administration of Justice from Mercyhurst College in May of 2006. His fondest memory of Hurst basketball is the 92-93 season (Junior yr) in which that team held a 20-8 record that consisted of  beating three nationally ranked teams including arch rival Gannon University. Gerald attributes his basketball success to all his teammates especially Tony Redding, Jamie Houston, Rasaah Roland, Kerry Baker, Rashe Rivera, and Terry Bush.
