Brian Lanahan after Mercyhurst: In 1999, Brian became
the Assistant Manager for Basketball Operations at Family Sports Park, where he helped oversee all department operations. He was able to utilize his sport management and marketing skills to manage leagues,
camps, tournaments, officiating, and coaching. In addition from 2000-2003 he
was a junior varsity and assistant varsity boys basketball coach at his alma mater North East High School. After his stint at the Sports Park, Brian pursued an Elementary Education major at Mercyhurst College. He became a Pennsylvania and Maryland
Certified teacher in 2003. He embarked on his teaching career in Baltimore, Maryland
at Montebello Elementary Junior Academy, an Edison Partnership School. During his urban teaching experience, he was able to significantly raise achievement
and mentor at risk youth in Baltimore. In
2005, he became a 5th grade teacher in the Prince George County Public Schools at Catherine T. Reed Elementary. Currently, he is a 5th Grade Lead teacher,
who also directs the Chess Club. In his spare time he enjoys coaching and playing
basketball. Brian currently resides in Greenbelt, Maryland near Washington, D.C.
